Born Ngcweti Ncwane, in the mid 2000s, in Durban. Mak is the first son of the late great Gospel pioneer Sfiso Ncwane and TV personality and Music Executive Ayanda Ncwane.
Mak is the short for MAKadunyiswe, MAKadunyiswe is named after his father’s very first album MAKadunyiswe. Mak was exposed to music at an early age as his parents owns one of the most successful record labels in Africa, Ncwane Communications. Mak’s DNA is music! Strangely his parents confirmed a story that before he could speak, he started singing first before his speech as a baby. Mak spent his whole childhood watching his father recording music, and performing and that’s when he knew that this is what his future would look like.
His love for deep house music sparked the interest in the genre of his choice and mostly influenced him lyrically. Hence his songs have moving messages. Mak had a childhood that was composed of school and music daily. That propelled him to choose to being a multi- genre artist. During the difficult times in Mak’s life, he turned into writing and composing music as early as his early teens.
Mak is not only a composer and singer but a hands on producer in his work.
