Veles Ensemble is a London‑based string trio known for its expressive sound, imaginative programming, and commitment to both classical and contemporary repertoire. The ensemble’s current lineup features Adriana Cristea (violin), Ralitsa Naydenova (viola), and Evva Mizerska (cello). The recordings available here, however, feature the trio’s founding violinist Hartmut Richter.
Hartmut remains an honorary member of the ensemble. His playing is heard on the trio’s albums of chamber works by Egon Wellesz and Steve Elcock — recordings praised for their clarity, sensitivity, and artistic insight. The Wellesz album was selected as a Guardian “Pick of the Week” and received acclaim from BBC Music Magazine.
Alongside its work with historical repertoire, the Veles Ensemble champions new and under‑represented music. Their performances at major venues and festivals across the UK and Europe are recognised for their warm ensemble blend and thoughtful, narrative‑driven approach to programming.
