NAEON TEARDROPS
NAEON TEARDROPS is an alias of Norwegian artist and electronic music producer PER MARTINSEN, who is mostly known for his output of electronic dance music under the moniker MENTAL OVERDRIVE since the 12000AD EP released on R&S RECORDS back in 1990.
NAEON TEARDROPS has its origin in Martinsen’s “multi-dimensional autobiography”, PYRAMIDS ON THE MOON, where he explores three different imagined timelines of his own creative and private life through writing.
NAEON TEARDROPS entered the physical realm with the single AMNESIACS back in 2021, and immediately hit a nerve among darkwave and synthpop listeners across the globe, receiving some rave reviews and peaking in the Top 10 of the DEUTSCHE ALTERNATIVE CHART.
The album TESTIMONY, released in 2024, also resonated well with synth lovers, but in addition introduced influences from 90’s breakbeat, melancholic IDM, electropop and lo-fi house, thus opening up for a wider set of followers.
Since then, a string of singles and remixes has dropped regularly, and NAEON TEARDROPS has also moved onto the stage with a series of shows in clubs and festivals in the wake of the album release.
It seems that what started as an imaginary artistic identity in a fictional story has by now cemented itself as a “real” artist.
Whatever that may be.
