A musical upbringing rooted in neo-soul, hip hop and jazz shaped ICXN’s early connection to music. Raised in South East London, his earliest memories are of his father filling the house with sound, laying the foundation for a lifelong relationship with music. By the age of 11, he was already writing and recording as a grime MC, sharing early stages with peers and appearing on platforms such as BBC Radio 1Xtra and Kiss FM.
After a ten-year hiatus focused on building cultural platforms like GUAP, a 2024 personal turning point fueled his return to music with renewed purpose. Now, Inspired by artists such as Lauryn Hill, The Roots and Michael Jackson, his sound is rooted in introspection and honesty, exploring themes of ambition, identity, loss and legacy.
Working fully independently, ICXN has begun building strong early momentum. His debut project generated over 350,000 streams within six weeks, earning national radio support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, Kiss FM and Reprezent, alongside editorial playlist placements including New Music Friday, Fresh Finds and Apple Music’s New Fire. He has also collaborated with American rapper Westside Boogie and supported Canadian artist Jev on tour.
With a sound that blends introspection and soul with forward-thinking rap, ICXN continues to carve out a space uniquely his own grounded in purpose, independence and artistic integrity.
