Bawari Basanti
Bawari Basanti is an Indian singer-songwriter, storyteller, and live performance artist exploring what music can become when it is more than entertainment. Rooted in Hindustani music, folk traditions, spoken word, and contemporary production, her work creates immersive experiences where song, story, and audience become one.
At the heart of her practice is a simple question: **What have we forgotten?** In an age where music is increasingly consumed in isolation, Bawari Basanti draws from India's rich traditions of collective singing, storytelling, and celebration to create spaces where people can gather, participate, and reconnect.
Her songs move between tenderness and rebellion, intimacy and celebration, exploring themes of womanhood, freedom, longing, identity, and transformation. Rather than preserving tradition as nostalgia, she reimagines it through a distinctly contemporary lens—blending poetic songwriting with immersive live experiences that blur the boundaries between concert, ritual, and theatre.
Whether performing intimate solo sets or larger conceptual productions, Bawari Basanti is building a contemporary Indian sound that feels rooted yet fearless—inviting audiences not just to listen, but to sing, move, remember, and belong.
