Rich Douthit
Rich Douthit is a San Francisco based drummer and percussionist, who together with Danny Paul Grody and Trevor Montgomery (Young Moon) formed The Drift in 2002 releasing records on Temporary Residence. The Drift’s music is featured on the theme song of NPR’s The Moth Radio Hour, and on the soundtrack of professional surfer John John Florence’s film View From a Blue Moon - Official Soundtrack. Douthit has also played in Winfred E. Eye, Jargon, Boxcar Saints, The Cannery, Rykarda Parasol, Odessa Chen, and Halifax Pier, among others. Douthit was exposed to classical Indian and Middle Eastern music playing sitar and doumbek after high school, which shaped his approach to playing drums in bands. After taking a decade long hiatus from playing music, he rejoined Danny Paul Grody from The Drift in 2021. Playing as a duo, both sought to create music for healing and reflection during the pandemic. The duo are releasing records on Three Lobed Recordings currently supporting the 2023 release Arc of Day with singles for a new record releasing in May 2024. More Info
