HEKKA is a piano/bass/drums unit that seeks to work outside it's own loaded parameters. They explore song forms through a kaleidoscope of loops, beats, rhythm keys & improvisations.
The trio - consisting of Novak Manojlovic, Tully Ryan & Jacques Emery, 3 of the most exciting creative voices in Sydney - collectively construct melodies & structures with a unique empathetic approach, moving through sonic arenas with a rare litheness and unity. Beauty is clarity and communication is always key.
HEKKA released their debut EP Wrecker in late 2018, followed by a tour of the east coast of Australia. Early 2019 saw the release of the single Where to Fall Apart - a flittering, melodic exploration of the veneers we all wear in our thin attempts at self-preservation, & what happens when those slick exteriors come crashing down.
