Fil Uno
Fil Uno
Fil Uno emerged onto the music scene in late 2016, the year Prince and Bowie died, with his groundbreaking album Violonchelo Solo, which challenged the traditional listener-instrument relationship, infusing it with a renewed sense of physicality and sensuality. Prior to his solo career, Fil Uno's background included stints as a professor and cellist in orchestras across Peru and France. He led projects with youth orchestras and choirs in Cusco and Iquitos, while also composing music for Simbiontes, an experimental theatre group. In 2014, Fil Uno retired from all work to focus on a solo process that led him to conceive, compose, and become a performer of his own material. Continued with several collaborative projects for visual arts, dance, theatre, video art, performance, fashion, and cinema, in various locations: Norway, England, Botswana, Latvia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, and Peru. He always proposed a meticulous and captivating staging, departing from conventional stages to occupy resonant architectures that invoke contemplation, thus offering concerts in Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Cuba, and Mexico. In Peru, he showcased his work at prestigious museums and galleries. Along the years, Fil Uno has collaborated with renowned artists and platforms. In 2022, he relocated his studio to Mexico, where he continues to push the boundaries of contemporary instrumental music while fostering collaborations and striving for sustainable artistic practices.
