Wildwood Sessions
'Wildwood Sessions' features songs created in response to the world, characters, themes, and mythology of LAIKA's upcoming stop-motion epic 'Wildwood,' the feature film based on the best-selling novel by The Decemberists' frontman Colin Meloy. 'Wildwood Sessions' invites each artist to interpret the emotional landscape of the story in their own voice, creating a standalone body of music that expands the universe of the film. The album is executive produced by industry veteran Steve Lindsey and co-executive produced by Portland-based Harlan Silverman. With many of the participating artists deeply connected to Portland, where 'Wildwood' is set, 'Wildwood Sessions' brings music, storytelling, and handcrafted filmmaking together in a creative extension of the film's world.
'Wildwood' is LAIKA's newest stop-motion feature and its most ambitious film to date. Based on the best-selling fantasy novel by Colin Meloy, frontman of The Decemberists, the film is directed by Travis Knight and features the voice cast of Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, and Charlie Day. The story follows Prue McKeel as she journeys into the mysterious Impassable Wilderness to rescue her younger brother, discovering a hidden world filled with magic, danger, and unforgettable characters along the way.
