Anya Anastasia creates experimental art-rock with global influences, made on Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
The sonic worlds that her rich soundscapes evoke are layered and encapsulating, driven by catchy hooks, complex rhythms, and rich distinctive vocals. The lyrics that grab you and draw you into the sonic detail layered within the music, offering up more with each listen. Anya's lyrics ask questions about our society, conspiring to stir dissent and environmental action. Amidst the grind of modern industrial life, her songs transcribe wonders of the natural world.
In collaboration with her diverse and accomplished band (Satomi Onishi - drums, Gareth Chin - keys, Clara Gillam Grant - Cello, Jamie Lena Kerslake - Bass) Anya draws on diverse musical influences and takes an experimental approach to crafting tones and textures inspired by her own locality and era, evoking the flora and fauna of their local 'inner-regional' remnant bushland. The songs are infused with late-stage-capitalism-anthroposcene angst throughout.
