AP.9 is a founding member of the Mob Figaz, the Bay Area crew that helped define independent West Coast rap at the turn of the millennium. Raised in Oakland, California, he came up through the late-90s scene when C-Bo brought the Mob Figaz together, and he's been recording ever since.
His debut solo album Headshotz arrived in 2001, followed by a run of street records including Worldwide Mob Figa and The Mob Shop. With group mates The Jacka and Fed-X he recorded the Mob Trial series, and Mob Trial 3: The Verdict (2008) reached the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Over more than two decades he's shared tracks with E-40, Method Man, Mac Dre, Yukmouth, C-Bo, The Jacka and many more.
AP.9's music has always come straight from the life he's lived: hard-won, unfiltered and loyal to the streets that raised him. Now he's opening the vault. He's sharing the stories behind the era, the artists he came up alongside and the moments that never made the records, while working on new music for a new generation of listeners.
