The Penultimate project is an evolving study in thresholds and transmission - a series of sounds observed in a state fascination for what comes next. Rooted in progressive house but colliding freely with techno, trance, and cinematic narrative, it explores the tension between signal and absence, motion and stillness. Dark, driving, and immersive, each set and production draws listeners into states that linger: nostalgia, unresolved longing, or the quiet intrigue of what stays hidden beneath the noise.
Launching with the debut single Diminution with Graydient Collective with support from Julian Gray, Penultimate was able to display his take on electronic music with analog synths, heavy drops and progressive story telling. Following that up with his melodic story piece, Anemoia, taking influence from dark ambient music, creating a feeling of false nostalgia and liminal space.
Visually guided by monochrome forms, subtle geometry, and restrained bursts of color, Penultimate creates a space where sound and silence expose each other in equal measure. Born from instinct and sustained by a love of the process, the project is an open invitation for others to enter its mystery - to find what drifts, distorts, or echoes back.
